41. Have a drink at an ice bar

Bad choice of outfit when entering into the bar. I wore a dress in a -10 degrees room but too be fair, the weather was beautiful and I wanted to dress nicely for my date. Yes, my date chose this but, unfortunately, the date didn’t lead onto something. Probably because he was after something related to the eggplant and donut emoji or I wasn’t skinny enough. Nevertheless, choosing this was a fantastic idea for a date and I actually thought the date went well.

We laughed, talked and drank till we departed with smiles on our faces. I thought it was really good! But, as they say, shit happens.

Back to the main idea though, I had a drink at an ice bar! This was located in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Just a little shop at the corner. I didn’t come with expectations so I was taken back with the whole experience.

We were given coats (thank God), boots and gloves to go into the ice bar… well, technically it’s a very big fridge. If you ever work in hospitality and had to go to the fridge at work, well that’s pretty much it. That’s your ice bar. Instead of kegs, you have stools and some fur on an ice block near a bar. Instead of shelves, you have ice sculptures. Instead of food, you have Jenga. It was pretty awesome!

The room was small so exploring didn’t take long but I’m hoping to go to another ice bar next time that is completely covered in ice, not from a fridge you see at work.

Photos weren’t allowed, except the one they insist on taking. I took a few sneaky photos here and there so excuse the bad quality.

Thank you to my date (I think his name is Nathan) who chose to chill with me! It was definitely a great ice-breaker date… pun intended 😉
